Purple Bamboo Tea
Spend the day with one of our tea and culture experts as we escort you on a magical, outdoor adventure in the GuZhu Valley and Bamboo Forest, the area where the misty mountains of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed. Your day-long journey will begin as we collect you from the lobby of your Shanghai city center hotel. By way of private car, we’ll travel 3 hours to explore the GuZhu Valley; a place where the documented origin of Chinese tea culture lives. Explore the Great Tang Dynasty Tribute Tea Museum, a stunning monument built as a replica of the 8th century imperial tea factory. We’ll learn about the Emperor’s Zi Sun or Purple Bamboo Tea production and about the great tea sage who began his life orphaned in a monastery. Feast on a lunch crafted from fresh indigenous vegetables and prepared in farmer-style cuisine.
Afterwards, we’ll hike through the scenic bamboo forest and visit the local farmer’s dry goods market to learn how the products are used in traditional Chinese Medicine. At the conclusion of a full day’s exploration, we’ll make the journey back to Shanghai where we’ll deliver you back to your Shanghai city center hotel.
